Revit View Range
I just commented on a post over at the Revit Kid. It reminded me about a video I had posted some time ago on the View Range feature in Revit. I went looking for the link and discovered it had gone missing. So, I decided to repost it here. The video was recorded a few releases ago, but is still relevant to today’s version of Revit. Very informative video… thanks for posting! Is there a list of all these “unique” characteristics & the types of objects that include them published anywhere (i.e. caseworks shows above the cut line but not special equipment)?
You can actually find these things listed in the help file. At least they used to be there. I haven’t checked the new Wiki help.
Great explanation! Can you get the 3 windows to display like the bay window? I have this same situation and can’t get different height windows to display.
Try a plan region. You can use a plan region to sketch an are on the plan and then set a custom view range in that area. So draw one plan region set to one height and a separate one for each additional window. Hope that helps.
Hi, just watched you video on view range, it was great but I am still having trouble with my view range in site plan. I want my roof plan to be displayed on my site plan but I have changed the view range settings so much I can not get it back. I have 3 simple levels: FFL at 0, FCL at 2700 & NGL at -400. Obviously the roof is above FCL, I have not changed any other settings. Hope you can help. Thanks.
Hello: Thanks for the comment. Glad you liked the video. Usually there are some View Templates in the file. If yours has one for a Site Plan, you can try using that to reset everything. Otherwise, set the bottom of the view range to the lowest level. Then set the top higher than the highest roof and make the cut plane the same as the top. That should do the trick.
