New lynda.com courses!

Feb 21, 2013

I am pleased to announce two new Revit courses on the lynda.com video library authored by yours truly. Please visit my page at lynda.com to learn about these and all of my courses. (Full disclosure: I get a small referral fee if you purchase from this link)

The two new courses are:

Migrating from AutoCAD to Revit

This course shows AutoCAD drafters and designers how to migrate their CAD workflow to Autodesk Revit software. Author Paul F. Aubin details how to transfer your files and explains key distinctions between the packages. Along the way, learn how to customize the Revit settings for optimal control, get a basic handle on the modeling tools, and adjust yourself to the differences in visibility, plot style, object creation, and the user interface.

Phasing and Design Options in Revit

Phasing in Autodesk Revit allows you to show the complete life cycle of a project, such as a before and after or existing and proposed status, while design options allow you to save multiple iterations of a concept in a single project file. In this course, Paul F. Aubin shows how to use phasing and design options to organize multipart, multifaceted projects in Revit. The course also covers adding and assigning phases to views, scheduling phases and designating future work, working with design option sets, and presenting complex designs to clients.

Both of these course are around 2 hours in length. They focus on specific topics rather than a comprehensive look at the software. If you want a more general look at Revit Architecture overall, you can check out my other courses at lynda.com including Revit Architecture Essentials. There are also a few other courses on Revit there by other excellent authors as well. And if you want to learn more than just Revit, lynda.com is the place to go. You can learn about nearly anything you like with new topics being added every day. I highly recommend it.

Comments and questions welcome. Please enjoy the new courses. Thanks!

I’m your fan from mexico, I followed your tutorials in lynda.com and have learned a lot from you, I hope to one day get certified as a user of Autodesk Revit. Congratulations and I look forward to learning from you. One question is there a way to buy your book in mexico?

    • Paul F. Aubin says:

      Hello Julio:
Thank you for your comments. I am happy that you have enjoyed the lynda videos. As for buying the book in Mexico, do you have access to Amazon.com? I am not sure if they have a Mexican site. Otherwise, any local book seller should be able to order a copy for you. What part of Mexico? Maybe I can ask my publisher for you.

      Thanks again

I am from NZ and have gained so much from your training videos. I have seen your tutorials on Lynda.com and has been very impressed by it. I am looking for more advanced materials for the family editor. I was wondering whether your 5 set DVDs on Families cover some advance topics that were not taken on the Lynda family tutorials. Thanks.

    Mike

      Hi Mike:

Thank you very much for the comments. I am so glad that you liked the lynda.com videos. If you have already watched the Family Editor training, then you have seen most of the material that is in the 5-disk set. The 5-disk set is on 2010 and I used it as a basis to do the course on lynda. There is actually another hour or so more material on lynda. However, if you have not already done so, I recommend you check out my Advanced Modeling course at lynda.com. This one covers a variety of topics, and has some additional family editor tricks. It also gets into the massing environment which is another kind of family editor. Also, check out the free resources I have on my website at http://www.paulaubin.com/au I did a couple family editor labs at Autodesk University the past couple years and all the materials are posted there. You might find the Advanced Family Lab useful.

Thanks again and please tell all your friends and coworkers about the lynda.com videos!

Your “Migrating from AutoCad to Revit” course on Lynda is so spot on and applicable. I really wish I’d watched it before I completed my last project (a combination of modified AutoCad details from a thrid party and a model in Revit) Would have made my life much easier.

The best part of your course is the fact that it acknowledges that we will be using AutoCad files in our Revit projects for some time, or many of us will anyways.

I’ve watched all of your Lynda.com videos and HIGHLY recommend them all. I need more on anything and everything. Currently going through your Mastering Revit 2013 (though I’m on 2014) to fill in gaps. Videos are so much more effective 🙂
