Book Updates

So its summertime again and that means trying to get book updates finished! We have four books slated for release this year and some re-branding as well. The four books are:

The Aubin Academy Mastering Series: Revit Architecture 2011

(formally Paul F. Aubin’s Mastering Revit Architecture)

The Aubin Academy Mastering Series: AutoCAD MEP 2011

(formally Mastering AutoCAD MEP)

The Aubin Academy Mastering Series: AutoCAD Architecture 2011

(formally Mastering AutoCAD Architecture).

This one should hit the streets by mid-September.

The Aubin Academy Mastering Series: Revit MEP 2011.

I am co-authoring this my three existing co-authors Gregg Stanley, Darryl McClelland and Martin Schmid. We don’t have a pub date for this one yet, but hope to have it out late Fall.

    Dear Mr. Aubin,

I am reading right now your Mastering Autocad Architecture 2011 and I find it very good written because it is an optimal d mixture of conceptual and step-by-step method. I am also a Revit Architecture user and would like to know if it is possible to create masses with Autocad Architecture as with Revit.

Hello and thank you for your comments. I am glad you like the book. AutoCAD Architecture does have its own version of massing, but it is very different than Revit’s. You can make many forms and group and boolean them together. The Mass Elements in AutoCAD Architecture can be used to represent anything, not just building conceptual designs as they are intended in Revit. Look for the Massing tool palette in the ACA interface.

    Dear Mr. Aubin,

I’m reading your book and I like it it is very good source for learning new things. I have a simple question but I searched on internet nobody could answer. So I decided to ask it to you. For example I want to draw a pipe or duct that goes from first floor to roof. But I work with constructs which are floor by floor. So is there a way to see this duct or pipe in every construct automatically?

I take it you are using Autocad MEP. You can use spanning constructs for items which apply to more than one floor such as chases and piping (or curtainwalls in architecture for instance). Hope this helps…

    Dear Mr. Aubin,
I have heard great things about your Mastering Revit books. Do you have a book on mastering Revit Structure? If not, can you recommend another source for mastering Revit Structure?
    Thank you!

      Hello Tom:

Thanks for your comment. I am sorry but I do not have a book on Revit Structure. Sybex has one though.

      Good luck to you.

I have Mastering AutoCad Architecture by Paul F. Aubin ISBN-13: 978-1-4390-5729-2 and keep getting the message update connect to the internet which doesn’t produce any results except to buy another book. Suggestions Thanks

    • Paul F. Aubin says:

Hello: When you say you keep getting a message, where is it coming from? We don’t send out updates that I am aware of. It looks like you have the 2010 edition. There is a 2011 edition of that book. (There is not a 2012 edition) but you should be fine with that one. Please let me know if i can offer any further assistance.
